Mike & I live in the Pacific Northwest sharing time between two small homes Mike built on two different islands; Whidbey, 45 minutes north of Seattle and Lopez in the San Juan Islands. But no place beckons us for our winter sojourn as does Kauai and no place on Kauai like the Kiahuna Plantation. Owning in Building 7 so close to the water was a dream come true. In the still night we can hear rolling waves on the beach. As morning breaks, listening in to the wakening songbird’s conversations in the tree outside our shuttered bedroom window is the most comforting way imaginable to start another day in paradise. —Elizabeth
With only steps to one of Kauai’s best swimming beaches, there’s no need to drive to get to the beach and no consideration to 'go or not to go’; it's all right here. Kiahuna Beach offers sunbathing, boogie boarding, snorkeling or learning to surf. Kiahuna Plantation is amazing, no matter where you lay your head in our tropical lush 35 acre resort. Read in peace and quiet on the lanai, with late afternoon filtered shade from trees. Gather at sunset on the Great Lawn just above the beach to watch the sun sink below the horizon, always watching for 'The Green Flash'! The Peace of Hawaii that beckoned you to these islands is right outside your door. Kiahuna Plantation Resort is simply amazing.
Our outdoor closet is filled with beach paraphernalia: Boogie Boards, Snorkeling Gear, Lawn Games, a water camera, night Frisbee, Bocce Ball & children's beach toys - all for your use while staying in Beachhouse 33. Also, a one-of-a-kind Guest Pantry in the closet; "Take It or Leave It" for all guests use. Spices & sundries typically tossed upon departure are now shared should guests choose to use or leave. This is not a feature of the resort and anything 'gone' is not replaced by resort; a courtesy Pantry only, and a popular feature.;
One of the fully remodeled Kiahuna beach houses just completed in 2018. The kitchen, dining area and living room blend together creating a Great Room. The kitchen features Stainless Steel Appliances (2017) and is fully equipped with everything you need to create dine-in meals to enjoy from the view Lanai. Unique to #33 a pantry-system was created and stocked with essentials. Guests leave non-perishable items and can use spices, sandwich bags etc left previous guests. This is a great convenience while at the same time, reducing ONE condo's vacation waste! The 55" wall mounted Smart TV (new 2017) makes an occasional movie or sporting event even more enjoyable.
New Furniture throughout including comfortable seating on an American Leather Queen Sofa Bed. Incredibly comfortable to sleep on this unique, Queen platform bed pull out with Temperpedic mattress. Swivel chairs in Living Room allow guests to enjoy conversational space, swivel to look out to the lanai and views or watch TV. All furniture was selected for their compact design, another feature that created a perfect Kauai Gathering Place
Samsung Smart 55" Flatscreen TV uniquely mounted on the wall in Dining Room. A Boze wireless blue tooth speaker is yours to use to enjoy rich sounds of your choice of music from Spotify, or Pandora or your Playlist. (Be sure to play some Hawaiian. ;-)
First off, this was first time to Kauai. I’ve been to all the other island numerous times but I can honestly I will never visit a different Hawaiian island again. To me, Kauai is what a tropical island is all about: slow and easy, incredibly lush and beautiful, uncrowded beaches, undeveloped, and friendly locals. We asked a few bartenders their fav beaches and ended at two places where we were 2 of 4 people at one beach, and 2 of 7 at another. Anyway, we stayed at Kiahuna #33 in late Sept/early Oct of 2018 and I can say we were more than delighted at all it had to offer. First off, the view from the lanai (and raised patio table to be able sit and see over the railing) is wonderful. Nothing like looking over the ocean every morning. In researching Kiahuna we learned that 2nd floor end unit is the place to be and that is exactly how #33 is situated. This is best for 2 main reasons: you can leave the windows open all day and you also have side ventilation. This kept the unit totally comfortable and we never once felt that AC was necessary. The condo is about a 1 minute walk to the beach and is far away from the main road. The unit itself is tastefully furnished and comfortable. The furnishings are several levels about the normal island-centric furniture found in many units and we found it to be quite cozy and comfortable. For this who want to cook in, the kitchen is fully stocked with just about everything you can think of from chip clips to double insulated beverage cups that come in handy on the beach. There actually wasn’t a single thing that we looked for that wasn’t already there. The owners closet has all that you need for a day in the sun and the waves incl snorkels, masks and fins, beach chairs, umbrella, boogie board, coolers....well, you get the picture. The plantation itself is beautifully manicured and very peaceful. It’s central location allows an easy drive to either end of the island in less than an hour. Overall, we both highly recommend Kauai AND Kiahuna #33!
Our family (4 adults and 9 month old boy) was staying at Kiahuna Plantation, condo # 33 for total of 11 nights at the end of April beginning of May 2018. We had a wonderful time. Condo is fully equipped, it has everything what you need to enjoy your vacation and even more. Kitchen is equipped on 100%, I can't even think about a thing which wasn't on that kitchen! All appliances in a perfect condition, brand new large refrigerator, flat-screen TV with Netflix and cable, very fast WI-FI. The big thing for us was that Elizabeth provided a little collapsible crib, which perfectly fit in a master bedroom between a wall and a bed. Our son liked that crib a lot and had a very peaceful sleep in there. There are tons of local guides about places on the island you might want to visit. Little tip - go to app store on your phone and invest $6 in the app where the guide tells you in a fun manner about places your driving through. I don't remember the name of the app, but this dude was hilarious! The condominium complex itself located between two large 5 stars hotels, where you can go and enjoy a dinner or breakfast, or maybe a drink. Condo is in direct proximity to the beach with all amenities included. No lifeguard on duty however, so watch yourself and your kids swimming. I rented a long serf-board over there (1 hour $10, cards are accepted), but since it was my first time I wasn't really catching any waves, but the whole experience was very fun. You can also take a surfing class. I watched the guy was training people all day long, and they had a lot of fun too. BBQ stations are everywhere, all well-maintained, staff cleans them every morning, we were really enjoying BBQing at nights. Oh this is my favorite part. Meat on this island is really cheap, I mean really really cheap, all local and grass-fed. You can buy a large chunk of rib-eye stake for $6 in a local grocery store. But I went even further I googled a local farm-store which is within 15 minutes driving and bought really good beef in there. I mean there are so much pleasant things I have not mentioned about this condo, but I don't want to repeat previous reviews, which I fully confirm. The overall experience of staying at Elizabeth' residence was enjoyable, calm, peaceful and hustle-free, everything what would you expect from a perfect vacation. We highly recommend this place! Thank you, Elizabeth!
We spent nine fantastic days at the Kiahuna Plantation, condo #33. Elizabeth gave us a lot of information about restaurants, walking possibilities, and excursions. She was making our stay wonderful. The condo is fully equipped and you have an arrival set of tea and coffee which is really nice. Spices, oil, vinegar, etc. are available too.. The beach is really near and we enjoyed to use the beach chairs (new for us arriving from Switzerland!) and all the beach equipment available. We enjoyed to eat every day on the lanai with the view on the ocean. We can highly recommend this nice and quiet condo. Thank you for all you did for us.
Our family enjoys the Kiahuna Plantation for the location at the beach and the open spaces of lawn and garden. I have stayed in several of the condominiums at Kiahuna over the years with my adult children and the renovations on this condo are the best of the best, giving it the roomiest feel of all the others I have experienced. For example, this condo has a larger flat-panel TV screen that hangs on a strategic spot on the wall in the dining area instead of the usual location in the living area by the kitchen. This frees up more space around the kitchen which has already been enhanced by removing the usual divider walls that separate the kitchen from the dining and living areas. My kids like to cook and bake, so the stainless steel kitchen appliances are a real plus. So is the large selection of spices and sauces. (Not found at the other condos.) The set of cutting knives hanging on a magnetic plate on the wall were a conversation piece. I slept well in the pull-out bed which has a particularly good mattress and pull-out mechanism. The king-size regular bed is great, which I also tried out for a couple nights after my big kids had returned to school. And there's the iHome docking station alarm clock for the iPhone. Hooks in the entry and in the bath where needed for hanging clothes. The location of the condo being so near the beach with an ocean view from the Lanai is great too. Looking forward to staying there again!
Wonderful vacation. Thank you for renting your condo to us Elizabeth. The renovations you have done enhance the property. I was actually quite pleased with how spacious the condo actually is. The location in the complex is great, close to the beach and that nice open area to sit and relax. We made use of some of your beach gear which was really appreciated. The information you gave us for walks, restaurants, shopping, etc. was very helpful. We felt very comfortable and relaxed right away. We wouldn't hesitate to rent number 33 again. Thanks again.
